Chase is offering bonus points for mobile wallet purchases in what looks like the first time ever. From October 4 through November 4, 2017, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, and Sapphire cardholders can earn one additional bonus point per $1 spent when using a mobile wallet. This is in addition to the points you already earn, up to $1,500.
That means when you use your Sapphire card with Apple Pay, Android Pay, Chase Pay, and Samsung Pay, you can earn up to 3 points or 4 points per dollar spent, depending on the card you have.
Points Earning Options
While earning up to 4 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on travel and dining is desirable, this presents a unique opportunity for non-bonus spend. With any of the Sapphire cards, non-bonus spend using a mobile wallet for the time period yields 2 points per dollar, which is even better than the Chase Freedom Unlimited card offers.
It’s true that the bonus points are capped, so you’ll only get ~$30 worth of Ultimate Rewards bonus points no matter how you spend in your mobile wallet.
