Starbucks is offering Gold Status after just one purchase

Offer: Starbucks Gold Status after just one purchase through July 31, 2017.

Starbucks lovers, rejoice! The world-renown coffee chain is offering Gold Status after just one purchase. That means if you make just one purchase between now and July 31, 2017 you’ll automatically get their top tier status.

Is there a catch?

Well, sort of. While it’s not necessary to register in order to receive this offer and it’s free to sign up for Starbucks Rewards, this promotion is open to Green Level members only. Specifically, Green members just need to have a Starbucks Rewards profile and must make a purchase with the app or a registered card to get the status.

So, if you’re a Starbucks regular and already have Gold Level status, you’re not eligible.

But there is certainly value in Starbucks Gold status. You would ordinarily need to earn 300 stars, which requires $150 of spend in order to earn Gold. Once you get the status, you can actually spend less to keep it through the use of the program’s monthly Double Star Days and occasional Star Dash challenges.

If you know me, then you know I drink Starbucks. A lot. Here’s a look at the benefits.

Starbucks Green Status

Green members receive these standard benefits: 2 stars per $1 spent, free birthday reward, pay by phone, order ahead, free in-store refills, and member events & offers.

Starbucks Gold Status

Gold members receive all the standard benefits of Green membership, plus: monthly double-star days, a personalized gold card, and a reward every 125 stars for free drinks and food.

The best part of Gold Status? Rewards for stars!

Realistically, Starbucks Rewards loyalty program status won’t deliver anything close to the same types of perks that airlines and hotel programs offer. Then again, they aren’t offering single-purchase Gold status.

But if you like coffee and Starbucks and don’t have Gold status, this is a no-brainer. Just don’t forget to register for Starbucks Rewards if you’re not already a member.

Also don’t forget to take advantage of a credit card that offers bonus points on coffee shops (and even digital gift cards in an app, since that’s what Starbucks uses) like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which offers 2X points on all travel and dining.
